The subject covers the key topics associated with measurement science and the principles of sensors used to conduct measurement. Emphasis will be given to the mechanism of the generation of biomedical signals from cellular level to organism level. Then, the fundamentals of measurement will be explained, and followed by detailed introductions on the working principle of various sensors, especially those which are pertinent in biomedical instrumentation.

Class are presented with constructivist and inquiry approach with lectures, question & answer, discussion and problem solving methods. Teaching and learning process using media Power Point, E-Learning and book or original research paper reviews. A semester-long project related to the design and construction of sensors is conducted to provide the experience of real sensor development and application for the students.

Assessment is based on 40% mid-semester assignments and 60% final examination and assignments.
